THE PIONEER BAPTIST CHURCH MISSION STATEMENT:
“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
The Pioneer Baptist Church, as is every true local church, is the headquarters for world-wide evangelism. This evangelistic outreach is one of the main purposes of the church, and one of the main reasons that the LORD Jesus Christ established His church. The outreach includes the house next door to the Pioneer Baptist Church, extends to the uttermost “part” of the earth, and encompasses everything in between. To this end, we, as a church, support missionaries at home and abroad, pray for them, and encourage them as they labor in the field.
There are Christians who have been called to full-time missions work, and there are others who have not been called as full-time missionaries, but who are, nonetheless, missionaries in their own neighborhoods and workplaces. We also know that the LORD Jesus Christ could be called the greatest missionary, for He left His home in Heaven that he might come all the way to earth to save the lost. “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” (Luke 19:10)
Christ Himself, and every Christian, is a missionary. The great work of the church is missions.
