Pastor Gerald Mitchell’s sermons are both lively and informative, and he delivers them with a friendly demeanor. While preaching God’s Word in all of its awe and wonder, he is able to relate God’s wisdom to the common issues of our day, in a way that is both riveting and profitable.

Doctrinally, Pastor Mitchell holds to the fundamentals of the faith as put forth in Scripture. He preaches the New Birth through the Old Faith, with a Hell that’s hot and a sin that’s coldly fatal -- apart from the saving grace of the LORD Jesus Christ. He holds to the infallibility of the Scriptures and the Divine preservation of the Word of God.

Pastor Mitchell has been Senior Pastor for Pioneer Baptist Church since May 1, 1990. His educational accomplishments include a Bachelor of Science from University of Maine, a Graduate of Theology from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, as well as a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Practical Ministries from Louisiana Baptist Theological Seminary. He has been in full-time Christian service for over forty-five years. He has been married to his wife Karla Mitchell for thirty-four years, with five children and eleven grandchildren.
