Good Morning Pioneer Baptist!

Somebody’s not being honest!

This from the New York Post on June 8, 2010. “WASHINGTON — More than 700 law enforcement officers have been injured on the job during nationwide protests over the death of George Floyd — with nearly 300 of those among New York’s Finest, according to the Department of Justice and the NYPD. Since mass unrest over Floyd’s death in Minneapolis police custody first broke out on May 27, approximately 700 federal, state and local law enforcement officers have sustained injuries in clashes with demonstrators, according to Justice Department data. During violent protests in Washington, DC, another 60 Secret Service agents and 40 US Park Police were also injured — 22 of those officers hospitalized with serious injuries, Attorney General William Barr told reporters last week. In New York, a total of 292 members of the force have been hurt during the demonstrations, with one officer struck by a car amid looting in the Bronx released from the hospital Sunday, according to the NYPD. At least 150 federal buildings have also been damaged across the country, according to Homeland Security’s Federal Protective Service.”

This introduction mainly relates to cops’ physical injuries sustained during the “protests.” Then there is this from Fox News on June 8, 2020: “MINNEAPOLIS — Among those killed as protests over the death of George Floyd have roiled American cities in the past week are a retired police captain, a beloved owner of a barbecue restaurant, and a former star football player known as “Mr. Indianapolis. As of Monday, June 8, an informal tally shows 17 people have died in incidents stemming from the unrest following Floyd’s May 25 death.”

Then there is the looting and vandalism that, according to one expert, may cost New York City businesses millions of dollars in damage. “I think it’s pretty safe to say it’s going to be in the tens of millions of dollars,” Nicole Gelinas, a senior fellow at the conservative-leaning Manhattan Institute, told the New York Post.” Watching the nightly news, we have seen with our own eyes the attacks on police officers, the police vehicles incinerated, the shattered windows, and the beatings of anyone trying to stop the looting or filming the carnage. Now, they’re defacing statues they deem offensive and tearing them down when they can.

I’m not going to say that these injurious protestors are Satanic, but as a relevant example of what we are experiencing, note that Lucifer is a protestor against God (Isaiah 14:12-15), and that our precious LORD and Saviour is entitled “The Prince of Peace.” “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6). Jesus, who wants us to have peace, who gives peace in our hearts when we trust Him, will one day restore peace and order to the world and He will accomplish it with an ultimate show of force. Can you see that? The Peace Officer keeps peace by overcoming evil with force. (I include that just as an example, pointing out what I think is the obvious, and not calling anyone involved in these riots Lucifer.)

So how in the world does our previous President publicly criticize our current President for using force to cease this carnage and killing? And how dare he call these people and their actions “peaceful” when every honest person knows well that neither the people not their actions are? What we are experiencing is anything but “peaceful,” despite that many of those involved are honestly and sincerely peaceful. To broad-brush what is happening in our beloved country as “peaceful” is beyond irritating to hear, and to hear it said with a condescending smugness as if we were all completely ignorant only adds to the irritation. How dare he? How can he say such a thing while presenting a straight face, other than his characteristic and trademark smirk of aloofness? We have before cited Isaiah 5:20, but it bears repeating and repeating and repeating: “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”

Call President Trump whatever you wish according to record. He’s been married a few times, has been recorded talking inappropriately about sexual matters, and has been accused of infidelity. Just don’t insult me by saying he called in military force to quell “peaceful” protestors. And on top of that, drop the smugness! You’re not that much smarter than the rest of us. And it was you talking inappropriately when you “executive ordered” that boys could go into my granddaughters’ showers and locker rooms. Smug your way out of that.

Somebody’s not being honest, but the Prince of Peace is coming back, and here is how that will all play out, no matter how you term the protestors: (Revelation 19:15) “And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.”

Christ rejecters can repent now and have peace with the Prince of Peace, but to contend with God is the wisdom of the fool. Bible students might remember this incident taken from 2 Kings 9:22, “And it came to pass, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, Is it peace, Jehu? And he answered, What peace, so long as the whoredoms of thy mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many?” And again citing the great Messianic Prophet, Isaiah (“Isaiah 48:22) “There is no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked.” Wars end with surrender and a peace treaty. The surrender is when we confess that we are sinners, and the Peace Treaty comes when we confess the Risen LORD Jesus Christ as our Saviour! And that "is" peaceful!

And that is the Truth!

Love and Prayers to all,

Pastor
