“Civil liberties, and the uncivil stealing of them.”
I learned a new word today, “Eugenics.” “Eugenics is the study of or belief in the possibility of improving the qualities of the human species or a human population, especially by such means as discouraging reproduction by persons having genetic defects or presumed to have inheritable undesirable traits (negative eugenics) or encouraging reproduction by persons presumed to have inheritable desirable traits (positive eugenics).” (Dictionary.com) And that’s just the tip of proverbial iceberg! The term has been around since 1883, so I guess I should have known about it before. There’s a bad smell to it though, in that somebody or somebodies now has the power to decide who is undesirable, and from there it’s just one small step for man to leap to a general population control policy over mankind, where a nation like China tells a couple how many children they may and can have and a nation like Nazi Germany decides which part of the population may live, and which part of the population may not.
For decades, China had a “one child policy,” but on October 29, 2015, the ruling Chinese Communist Party announced that all one-child policies would be scrapped, allowing all couples to have two children. The law enacting the two-child policy took effect in January 1, 2016, and replaced the previous one-child policy. So now it’s two! How is such a thing policed? “To enforce this policy, provincial governments could, and did, require the use of contraception, abortion, and sterilization to ensure compliance, and imposed enormous fines for violations.” There were neighborhood watchdogs, withheld benefits, and who knows what else. After all, it is Communist China! We could ask some of the Chinese scientists who early on spoke of the dangers of Covid-19, but those guys are hard to find right now. That part of the population has definitely been controlled.
Positive Terminology quickly comes to column one on the front page. There, under “family planning” we find the position of the World Health Organization expressed in this way, “Slowing Population Growth: family planning is key to slowing unsustainable population growth and the resulting negative impacts on the economy, environment, and national and regional development efforts.” Okie Dokie. Then there is this from Jacques Cousteau, ocean explorer and conservationist (1910-1997) “We must alert and organise the world’s people to pressure world leaders to take specific steps to solve the two root causes of our environmental crises — exploding population growth and wasteful consumption of irreplaceable resources. Overconsumption and overpopulation underlie every environmental problem we face today.” How about U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York suggesting that it may not be ethical to have children, given the difficulties that climate change will likely cause in the years to come.(Nicole Goodkind: Newsweek, 2/25/19)
Policed by abortion, sterilization and fines right now, our most intimate and private decisions, even in America, could soon be either conceded through popular opinion, forfeited via the polls by an ill-informed citizenry (or non- citizenry if the liberals get their way) or simply stolen by military might. We’d better not be on the wrong side of such an issue, or Big Brother will be in the Bedroom, Drones entering our Dreamlands, and W.H.O. knows W.H.O. looking over our shoulders and everything else.
Jesus spoke of the joy over a child being born into the earth (John 16:21), and of Hannah begging God for a child, a prayer that God honored. Now, “so help me Hannah” you’d better not have one, and the birth of a child is looked upon by those not having the child as an evil thing. They favor abortion as opposed to birth, and death following dishonor should the birth beat the abortionist’s skills. In such circumstances, they simply implement “family planning,” but won’t call it “population control,” and certainly the cadre of co-conspirators won’t call it a “death squad” even though that’s exactly what it is.
We do understand and concede that there might be reasons for couples to carefully plan their children, but let’s keep Congress out of our Conceptions.
How about a policy of “Let’s Mate America Great Again!”
